In Memory

Karen Anne Camp (Stevens)

Karen Anne Camp Stevens went home to our Heavenly Father Thursday, July 9, 2009. She passed at her home in Odessa, Texas from a sudden illness.

Karen was a lifetime Odessa resident, born on July 21, 1947 to Billy Lee Camp, Sr. and Wanda Nadine (Taliaferro) Camp. She was an avid dancer, participating in several recitals in her elementary and junior high school years. Karen attended Odessa High School. In 1965, she married Michael Rex Stevens and soon became the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Michelle Renee and later Stephanie Kaye. The family attended Temple Baptist Church.

Karen loved animals and gardening. She saved dozens of stray cats and dogs lives by taking them in and loving them as if they had been with her since birth. She had a gift of designing yards with beautiful lush beds of flowers and plants. Later in life Karen became a member of Dunn Street Baptist Church, developing a strong relationship with the Lord. The family received beautiful hand-written blessings from her on a regular basis. Karen was always at her best when others needed care.

She leaves behind her daughters: Michelle Stevens Rea and husband Jeff and Stephanie Stevens, all of Odessa; two brothers: Billy Camp Jr. of Odessa and Tony Camp of Jefferson, TX; four grandchildren: Jacoby, Denton, Destiny, and Victoria; one niece: Cassondra Camp Belk of Odessa; and one nephew: Tony Lynn Camp of Aurora, CO; one beloved Aunt Joyce Redwine of Eldorado, TX and numerous cousins.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, July 13, 2009 at Dunn Street Baptist Church, 8546 W. Dunn St., officiated by Pastor Mark Kirby. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.

Memorials in Karen's honor may be made to the Humane Society or to Dunn Street Baptist Church.
