MIDLAND Gerry Robert Edney was born Sept. 28, 1946, in Houston, TX. He died of a heart attack on July 30, 2013, in Midland, TX.

 

Our beloved husband, dad, stepdad, grandpa, and friend has gotten to heaven and said "FANTASTIC!" for the last time. We rejoice in our knowledge that he was a Christian and one of the nicest people you could ever meet.

 

Gerry worked many years for the Texas Workforce Commission in Odessa and Midland. He then worked almost 14 years for HEB in many departments. He was the voice of the deli when he was there and many have heard his announcements for that department. In April of 2012, he opened Salt Haven Wellness Center in Midland and enjoyed meeting many new friends.

 

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents – Robert Edney and Christine Knight Edney. He is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Shawn of Raleigh, NC, and Stephen & Kristen Edney of Ben Wheeler, TX; step-daughters, Carol & Rick Stocks of St. Louis, MO, and Sharon & James Schwab of Midland, TX; nine grandchildren, Cory, Matthew, Andrew and Samuel of Raleigh, NC, Isabel, Audrey, Kaitlyn, and Sofia of Ben Wheeler, TX, and Wheeler of St. Louis, MO.

 

Visitation will be Thursday evening at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 2, 2013, at Memorial Christian Church (1001 Andrews Highway). Please dress casually as Gerry hated ties and loved his jeans.
