Peggy Jo Green (Cox)

ODESSA - Peggy Jo Green Cox, 70, passed away on December 11, 2017 in Odessa. She was born on January 14, 1947 to Wash Green and Lillian Woodham. She truly enjoyed life. She was a wife, a mother and a nana. She was married for 52 years to the same man, MJ Cox. She was a wonderful mother to Aaron and Tammy Cox, and a freakin' great nana to Kennedi Cox Hernandez and Karis Cox.

She enjoyed traveling to Hobbs with her husband and the companionship of her dog Bugsy. She always had a sharp wit about her, and even though she only had a high school diploma, Peggy was smarter than most college graduates. She is and will be sorely missed by her family and friends for years to come. God bless and godspeed!

The day of celebration for the life of Peggy Cox will be a come and go on Wednesday, December 20th from 6-8 pm at 4675 Fountain Lane. In lieu of sending flowers, please send donations to the VFW in the name of Peggy Cox: Attn: Will Gonzales VFW Post 4372 208 E. VFW Lane, Odessa TX 79762.

Peggy had retired with Rexene/Hunstman after 35 years of service.  She worked in the Safety Department and I used to work with her there.  I worked at REF-CHEM as Safety Manager and we had the maintenance contract and provided those workers for them.  So there was that relationship.  Peggy was always cordial and we used to talk about our OHS days.  She and MJ in retirement were always busy.  I used to see them in and about Odessa.  I had last seen MJ and her after Thanksgiving at the Shrimp Boat Resturant in the MGM Elegante Hotel.  She was her usual self.  I sat and talked with them for about 5 minutes or so.  It is surreal because you never realize that will the be the last conversation you ever have with someone.

I had first met Peggy with I entered Bowie Junior High in the 8th grade.  Peggy lived on West 20th Street in the 900 block and I would walk by her house on my way home from school.  I remember walking with her a few times.  Peggy had attended San Jacinto Elementary, Bowie and OHS.  I don't remember one negative thing about Peggy, I don't remember her ever gossiping about anyone and she always saw the best in everyone.  She was a grand lady and I was privileged to have known her.  My sympathies to MJ and their family.  She will be missed.
