For a short time our junior year, I ate lunch with Ernest and Johnnie Blair at Wattsburger on West County Road and 8th Street.  The place is now a Walgreen's Store.  We were classmates at OC and there is where he met his wife, Alice who was from Andrews.  After my second divorce, my ex worked for Ernest at his business H&H Electric in Odessa.  His company did oilfield electrical work.  Ernest was the father of three children, two girls and a son.  His daughters used to babysit my children.  Ernest passed away from Liver problems on September 9, 1995.  He was on the list for a liver transplant but passed away before he could find a suitable donor.    He and Diane Bailey's husband Johnny Huddleston were both in the hospital in Dallas, both waiting for liver transplants.  Both passed away within hours of each other.  Both funerals were held at the Frank Wilson's Funeral Home in Odessa.  Ernest is buried at Sunset Memorial Garden's Cemetery.

Ernest was in my Home Room all three years at OHS.  So was Narita Kunkel.  He a very nice young man who often did his very best to educate me about Catholicism. I wasn’t convinced and he knew it, but he always found a way to make it interesting.  Some of the things he said helped me many years later, after I moved to Rhode Island -- it is the most Catholic state in the union.  I am very sorry that he is gone.

Really liked Ernest. He was a quiet reserved person but a good friend to have.
