I first met Dennis in the 5th grade at Cameron Elementary.  I honestly can say, my family were like gypsies, we lived all over Odessa.  Dennis father worked for the Sid Richardson Carbon Black Plant and he and his two sisters lived in the Carbon Black camp housing in the 2200 block of West 14th.  They later moved to 1000 Block of West 20th Street next door to the Sigman's.   When I moved into the Bowie district for the 8th and 9th grade, I lived around the corner from Dennis.  I was also in the band with Dennis.

Dennis whole life centered around being in the OHS Band.  His senior year he was an alternate Drum Major and Dennis played Baritone Saxophone in the band.  Being neighborhood kids, Dennis worked with me at Otto's Ice Cream Store our junior and part of our senior year.

After high school, I did not see Dennis, but was in touch with his parent's who were very good friends.  Dennis lived in Odessa and had been doing landscape work.  I saw Dennis' father at Curtis Sigman's funeral and he told me that Dennis was suffering from HIV related illnesses and Dennis passed away within weeks of Curtis on September 3, 1989.  Again I was asked to be a pall bearer, which I gladly accepted.  Dennis was laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Garden's Cemetery.

Dennis father passed away and I would occasionally go by and see his mother.  I last saw Emma, his mother at my barber's shop about 4 months before her death in 2011.  My barber also was a licensed cosmotologist.
