In Memory

Nancy Jean Sandell (Allman)

Nancy Jean Allman (Sandell), 74, of Abilene, Texas, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on January 16th, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with sepsis.

Nancy was born on November 10th, 1946 to A.J. Sandell, Jr. and Lessie Sandell in Odessa, Texas. After graduating Odessa High School in 1965, she would go on to study real estate at Odessa College and served as a real estate broker and home builder in the Odessa and Abilene areas for over 25 years.

While in high school, she met Steve Allman and they would marry in November of 1964. Over the course of their marriage, Nancy and Steve would expand their family, having three boys - Stephen Jr., Darren, and David.

As the matriarch of her family, Nancy dedicated her life to raising her boys - supporting all of them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Whether that was traveling for team sports, helping her parents with the family farm, or helping out with grandchildren - she selflessly made it her passion to do everything she could to improve the lives of her family, her friends, and her pets. Her legacy for serving others lives on through her children and she is terribly missed by all that knew her.

Nancy was preceded in death by husband Steve Allman of Odessa and parents A.J. & Lessie Sandell of Odessa. She is survived by her sister Sherry Schuepbach of Granbury, her brother Billy Sandell of Houston, and her children Stephen Allman of Wylie, Darren Allman and wife Susan of Nacogdoches, and David Allman of Abilene. Nancy is also survived by her grandchildren Kanyon and Elijah Allman of Wylie, Michael, Emily, and Abigail Allman of Nacogdoches, and Dallas Allman of Abilene, all of whom she was so immensely proud and fond of.

Many friends were made over the course of Nancy’s lifetime. Some had already gone before her and some are still with us today. The family invites her beloved friends to come remember her and celebrate the life that she lived. Family will receive visitation on Friday, January 29th, 2021 at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater, Texas from 6:30-8:30 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 30th, 2021 beginning at 10AM inside the chapel of McCoy Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to her friends at Taylor County EMS or your other favorite charity. Services are being managed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater, Texas. Our family would like to extend our most sincere gratitude, love, and appreciation to Dr. Victor Hudman II, MD for the care, love, and empathy he provided to our loved one throughout the years.

She was a gentle lady, I loved her for that.  I had know her since the 5th grade.  May she rest in peace.

Nancy was one of the prettiest girls at OHS.  She was gentle, kind and fun to be around.  We lost track after she married.   I know her family and friends are missing her terribly.
