Barbara Lou (Stover) Harville was born on June 18, 1947 in Odessa, Texas, the daughter of Gomer E. and Elsie Helen (Porter) Stover. She was baptized at Temple Baptist Church in Odessa. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1965. On April 16, 1965, Barbara was united in marriage to Joe Harville at Vine Avenue Baptist Church in Odessa. While living in Odessa, Barbara worked as a legal secretary. In 1980, she and Joe moved their family to Giddings where they created H&R Machine. Barbara was an instrumental part of the creation, development and 41 year success of H&R serving as the secretary/treasurer of the company. An active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, Barbara was a huge supporter of the community and organizations such as Blue Santa, the Giddings VFD, the New Horizons Lions Club, and Immanuel Lutheran School. If there was a need in the community or a benefit auction, Barbara could usually be found helping in any way she could. She enjoyed sewing and the quilting group at MeMe’s Quilts. She took pleasure in taking care of her flowers and plants. Barbara’s favorite place was the beach, and she loved the time spent at their home in Port Aransas. More than anything, she loved the time she was together with her family.
